Many anglers learn how and where to fish after being introduced by a friend or family member. A recent Southwick and Associates report reveals that of anglers who were asked if in the past 12 months they had taken a child fishing, a whopping 61 percent of fishermen said they had taken a child fishing.
These numbers reveal that fishing can be a great family past time, a key way to introduce a kid to the great outdoors, or as something adults and kids enjoy doing together. Nearly anyone who fishes remembers who they first went fishing with, and in most cases that person can tell you where they went.
The survey found that often times the adult and young angler were related, and that the fishing trip occurred as part of an organized activity in a group setting.
