The Weatherby Foundation International has continued its support of Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation education initiatives with a $50,000 grant. The grant, an ongoing partnership between Weatherby and Sportsmen’s Alliance since 2012, is earmarked for educational programming from state wildlife agencies and other associated organizations, including Sportsmen’s Alliance’s Trailblazer Adventure Program, that fund outdoor expositions and mentoring programs.
“Supporting outdoor and youth education has always been a hallmark and focus of the Weatherby Foundation,” said Ralph Cunningham, president of Weatherby Foundation International. “Working in coordination with the Sportsmen’s Alliance, their programming and the expo and mentor programs they work with ensures that the grant money will support those endeavors to fullest.”
Expos are large scale events that promote outdoor activities such as shooting, fishing, hunting and trapping for youth and their families. Mentoring programs, provide more in-depth, focused and often recurring mentoring of youth in those outdoor activities.
The grants provide financial, organizational and planning support to groups hosting outdoor expositions and provide funds for projects and programs that give mentors, coaches and introductory opportunities to families and youth wanting to participate in hunting and shooting sports.
“We’re extremely pleased to once again be partnering with Weatherby Foundation International on this great program,” said Evan Heusinkveld, Sportsmen’s Alliance president and CEO. “These events are great opportunities for children and their families to learn about the hunting lifestyle and the funding provided by the Weatherby Foundation is paramount to their success.”
The Trailblazer Adventure Program was created by the Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation in 2001 to introduce youth and their families to the outdoor lifestyle. To date, Trailblazer has held more than 1,000 events with more than 1.8 million participants in all 50 states.
