Sportsmen in Hawaii and Maine, bills related to access and dog training have been introduced in your states!
HAWAII
Hawaii Senate Bill 870, sponsored by Sen. Ronald D. Kouchi (D- Kaua‘i), will specify that hunters wanting to hunt on private land must obtain written permission first. Currently, the law just required a person be given permission, and under this bill sportsmen must have physical proof. Senate Bill 870 is in the Water and Land Committee. MAINE
Maine’s House Paper 211, sponsored by Rep. Robert Alley (D-Beals), would allow the training of hunting dogs on bears in portions of Washington County and Hancock County that are situated south of Route 9. Current law does not allow for the training of dogs in these areas, but HB 211 will give hunters in this region the opportunity to train their dogs. HP 211 is still waiting to be assigned to a committee, but members can click on the following link for more information. http://legislature.maine.gov/LawMakerWeb/summary.asp?ID=280062862
