Columbus, Ohio – The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance Foundation (USSAF) has joined #GivingTuesday, a global effort comprised of businesses, families, individuals and charities, which is meant to inspire people to participate in the giving season in charitable fashion.
#GivingTuesday, which takes place on Dec. 2– the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, challenges the ideologies of self-indulgence that litter social media around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and seeks to create a national movement around the holidays dedicated to giving rather than to shopping.
USSAF has joined the movement in hopes of raising awareness about the Trailblazer Adventure Program, which introduces youth to a variety of outdoor experiences, including archery, shooting and fishing. Since 2001, almost 2 million youth in all 50 states have participated in the program.
“The concept behind Giving Tuesday is simple. It is all about being charitable toward something you’re passionate about,” says Sean Curran, USSAF VP of Membership and Development. “Sportsmen are more passionate about giving back to the outdoors than anybody. Giving Tuesday creates a new way to give back, and most importantly, to give back to the next generation of sportsmen through the Trailblazer Adventure Program.”
Those interested in following USSAF’s campaign on social media can search the #GivingTuesday and #OurHeritageOurFight hashtags or follow along on the organization’s Facebook, Google+, Instagram and Twitter accounts.
“For less than the cost of a pack of broadheads, a donation to our #GivingTuesday campaign puts eight youth through a Trailblazer experience,” said Curran. “Think about the long-term impact of being able to introduce eight kids, or more, to hunting, fishing and trapping for the first time. Our collective effort to give back the next generation of sportsmen during this holiday season can truly help save our outdoor heritage.”
